Charleston Side Yard

This home was inspired by the Charleston Single House, an icon of Charleston architecture dating back to the 1680’s.  The single house is identified by a long veranda or porch that runs the length of the structure and serves as exterior spaces.    Our firm was charged with the residential and interior design of this home.  In keeping with the features of a classic single home, the “front door” of this home was designed to lead to the ground level porch, patio, and to the actual front door.  Walls and trim were painted in varying shades of white thereby serving as a blank canvas for clean lined furnishings and antiques.  A chevron floor was created throughout the main living areas to take center stage as a design element.  Antique doors and shutters were juxtaposed against young and modern décor to create a beautiful and unexpected tension.
